This critical role is responsible for leading the design, construction, and execution of structural components and dams within the project. The ideal candidate will ensure that all work is delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability, while adhering to project timelines, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. The Resident Engineer will play a key role in overseeing onsite operations, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring the successful completion of this major infrastructure project.Oversee the design, construction, and execution phases of dams and structural works.Ensure compliance with engineering standards, project specifications, and environmental regulations.Monitor onsite construction activities to maintain quality and safety standards.Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to align expectations and project objectives.Manage communication with the project team, ensuring smooth coordination among all involved parties.Prepare and submit detailed project reports to stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and solutions.Track project milestones and budgets to ensure timely completion within allocated resources.Review and approve structural designs, drawings, and material specifications.Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to avoid delays or noncompliance issues.Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies throughout the project lifecycle.With a track record of achievement in a related role, you will have gained your experience in a consultancy environment and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.Suitable applicants will havebeTertiary qualifications or a related discipline e.g. M.ScB.Sc in Civil EngineeringMinimum experience of 12 years with at least 5 years in dam construction, structural projects, or hydropower infrastructure.Strong knowledge of dam design, structural analysis, and construction management tools.Strong communication skills written verbalSMEC is an equal opportunity employer.
