Qualification Bachelors degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, or Control Engineering or equivalent experience. Experience 10 years of experience in control system engineering, particularly within process plants, mining, or heavy industry environments. Proven expertise with ABB automation products such as ABB 800xA systems and integration of ABB 500M controllers, including intermediate to advanced understanding of ABB SCADAHMI development, the ABB minerals library, and the methodology thereof. Certifications related to ABB systems and equipment, such as ABB 800xA, ABB Drives, and ABB SCADA, are highly desirable. Additional certifications like MOXA Industrial Networking, Project Management, or a safetyrelated certification would be advantageous. Demonstrated expertise in advanced diagnostic techniques for both software and hardware components within the ABB control systems ecosystem. Experience in commissioning and configuring drives, where experience in ABB VSDs and UMCs for DOL drives will be advantageous. Requirements Strong knowledge of ProfiNet, Modbus TCP, and Ethernetbased networking protocols, as well as diagnostics and troubleshooting of communication issues. Experience in setting up and configuring network switches for industrial network architectures where experience in MOXA switches is advantageous. Proficient in interPLC communication between various packages. Knowledge of structured programming languages such as C would be advantageous. Experience in working on Advanced Process Control systems APCs. Demonstrated experience working in diverse, multicultural environments, with an ability to adapt to local working conditions and team dynamics. Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity best practices. Strong problemsolving skills and ability to work under pressure in a plant environment. Responsibilities Configure and maintain ABB 800xA DCS systems, ensuring reliable and optimized performance for copper concentrator operations. Integrate and configure ABB 500M controllers into the 800xA system. Commission ABB VSDs and UMC DOL Starter modules, ensuring seamless integration with the plants control architecture. Design, implement, and troubleshoot ProfiNet, Modbus TCP, and Ethernetbased communication networks. Set up and configure industrial switches for network infrastructure. Ensure robust interPLC communication for efficient data exchange between PLC systems. Work closely with crossfunctional teams including operations, IT, and Electrical teams to ensure successful system implementation and performance. Conduct system testing, commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure all control systems function at peak performance. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for control systems and provide technical support during plant commissioning and rampup phases. Develop and maintain documentation for control systems, including configurations, network diagrams, and communication protocols. Travel locally internationally, to assist installation, commissioning and ongoing operations of facilities on site. Create and deliver training programs for local engineers and operators on the ABB 800xA system, focusing on operation, troubleshooting, and system maintenance. Lead initiatives for DCS upgrades and migration, ensuring minimal impact on operations and alignment with the latest technological advancements. Ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations and standards relevant to control systems.
