The department is also committed to conducting impactful biomedical research on both communicable and noncommunicable disorders, designed to improve the health and wellbeing of communities at large.As an equal opportunity employer, AKU believes in promoting a diverse and inclusive culture and is committed to adopt appropriate standards for safeguarding and promoting a respectful relationship with and between diverse workforce of its faculty, staff, trainees, volunteers, beneficiaries, wider communities, and other stakeholders with whom it works, including children and vulnerable adults and expects all employeestrainees and partners to share this commitment.Aga Khan University invites applications for a fulltime position of Senior Research Assistant Histology in the Department of Biological Biomedical Sciences.ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible toset up and conducting histology laboratory teaching sessions for undergraduate medical students of Year 1 and 2set up and conducting, physiology and biochemistry laboratory teaching sessions for undergraduate and graduate students MPhil and PhD under supervisionassist in conducting molecular biology sessions for undergraduate medical students as neededtrain elective students in conducting research experiments related to histology under supervisionassist faculty in carrying out research projects by conducting experiments, literature search and interpreting results, preparing writeups, manuscripts, research reports, presentations, research grant applications and abstracts for publication and grant fundingraise PR and MSR for teaching and research supplies and consumables used in histology and followup with relevant departments regarding the delivery timeparticipate actively in Research Module in histology and histopathology disciplineensure all equipment teaching, research are functional in BBS for histology teaching and research maintain logbook and checklist for equipmentassist in the maintenance of central stock inventory system and the ordering of reagents and consumables for the BBS labs and the faculty research and followingup with concerned departmentscontribute towards daytoday operations of the lab and assist in developing standard operating procedures SOPs for BBS laboratoriesengage in professional development activities such as lab training and attend departmental research and academic forums to keep abreast with current trend and practicesany other task assigned by the ChairDirector BBS lab andor delegate. RequirementsYou should havea graduate degree BSc, MScMSMPhil or equivalentat least 2 years of work experience related to research and teachingworking knowledge in basic sciences with skills in laboratory techniquesexcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsthe ability to multitask several projects and work in fast paced environmentproven ability to work well with certain degree of autonomy and function successfully in a team environment proficiency in MS Office.Comprehensive employment reference check will be conducted.
